Welcome to U.S. History Honors! The history of the United States is a fascinating journey. As we study the stories that are written for us, we must also evaluate the documents that record American history. We will be looking at all aspects of American culture and history including the art and music forms they produced that tell us this complex narrative. Studying the complexities of American history means that we will be examining some difficult and controversial topics. I fully expect my students to approach the material to be covered with enthusiasm and respect to all cultures. The primary content emphasis for this course will be the study of United States history from The American Civil War to the present. Students will study the historical, geographical, political, economical, and sociological events, which influenced the development of the United States and the resulting impact on world history. YES, American history plays a DIRECT role in world history. It is critical for students to make the connection between American history and World history.
From the Founding of America to the Present While this course will focus on the Civil War to the Present, we will begin with a brief review of the foundations of America and events leading to the Civil War. This review of American history is necessary to set the stage for all that we will learn.
