Dear Parents & Students: Welcome! I am so glad that you will be part of my class this year. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with my website. You will be using this site on a daily basis. Parents, please use the provided tools to help remind your student of upcoming quizzes, tests, and other assignments. Students, regardless of the course you will be participating in, you will have homework every night. It is important that you stay focused. I try to break your reading assignments into manageable sections. Failure to read on the assigned day will place you behind, causing additional stress. While it is my goal to challenge you academically, I never want you to be frustrated because you are playing “catch-up” on something previously assigned. This year, we will be covering vast amounts of material. Please look through the pages for your particular course. Remember, I teach multiple courses! Looking at the wrong course could cause confusion. Know where your tabs are, and what assignments or activities you will find on these pages. Some pages will change regularly while others are meant to provide general information. By the second week of school, you should know which pages you will need to view daily. Planning calendars for each class are on the Documents page for your course. This calendar will be your guide for course specific work. It is especially important that you check this calendar daily!!! Again, I am looking forward to helping you achieve your academic potential in the wonderful world of history. I wish you the best of luck for this school year. Go Panthers!
About Dr. Ford...
Hello, and welcome to my class. I graduated from the Santa Rosa County School system in 1993. After high school, I attended Pensacola Jr. College (known today as Pensacola State) where I earned my associates degree and then finished my bachelor’s degree at the University of South Alabama. In August 1998, I returned to Santa Rosa County and began teaching at Navarre High where I worked for 17 years. In August 2015, I transferred to Milton High where I currently teach Advanced Placement and Honors Social Studies and Humanities classes.
It is my belief that every person continues to learn throughout their lifetime. As a result of this philosophy, I have continued my own education earning National Board Certification (2006), a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction (2013), an educational specialist degree in Educational Leadership/Curriculum and Instruction (2022), and a doctorate in Educational Leadership/Curriculum and Instruction (2023).
